About our referees
In Clonakilty RFC, we have seen great growth in our Underage player numbers over the past few years, which has seen a significant increase in the games our playing and the fixtures we are setting with Munster Branch.
The Munster Association of Referees (MAR) only have a limited panel of referees to appoint to all the fixtures each week, so some of our fixtures will not have MAR refs.
We have set up our own panel of Affiliate Referees, who can officiate at home games for underage matches (mostly u13 to u16 games, in both girls and boys).
This has been a great success and it’s really encouraging to see our own Clon refs tog out and take charge of underage games at The Vale. They all look really professional in their pink t-shirts, representing Clon on the pitch, this time with a whistle.
Our current panel of 14 refs includes past and current players, alongside coaches, all of whom are doing a few jobs for the club each week. We are very grateful for their time!

We have one active Mar ref at the club as well, Garrett McCabe, who togs out in MAR colours around the province each week.
We are always looking for new recruits for our Affiliate panel, so if you think that you’d like to stay involved with rugby by taking up a whistle, then please contact Garrett McCabe on 087-2573790. We even offer discounted membership rates for our Refs!
We will help you through the training process and support you on the pitch. Its a great way to stay connect to the game, stay fit and give something back to the club.
